SISD board discusses plans for next school year and naming of superintendent

EL PASO, Texas -- The Socorro Independent School District discussed a number of key items during a school board meeting Tuesday night, but took no action.

Those discussions included developing the plan for the 2021/2022 school year amid the decline for Covid cases in the Borderland and vaccination for school-aged kids.

Another item up for discussion involved the appointment of an interim superintendent and establishing terms of employment for the permanent role.

Now-former superintendent Jose Espinoza resigned effective immediately at the last school board meeting following the election of new board members.

The board didn't make decisions Tuesday night on either of those two agenda items. They indicated plans to gather public input before making decisions.
