Blaze destroys former west El Paso pharmacy on Thanksgiving
EL PASO, Texas -- The former McCrory's Pharmacy in west El Paso was destroyed by a fire early Thursday morning.
The El Paso Fire Department told ABC-7 it looked like the pharmacy at 6151 Dew Drive was a total loss.
"We're going to wait for the roof to burn away. Once it does, we can actually extinguish the fire," incident commander Carlos Franco said while the fire was still burning.
Large flames came out of the pharmacy's rooftop, which ended up collapsing.
A fire department official said no one was injured in the blaze which broke out at 2 a.m.
Investigators have not said what caused the fire at the building, which ceased operating as a pharmacy over the summer. The Dallas-based owners cited competition from larger chain drug stores as the reason for the closure.
