2 bodies recovered from central El Paso canals
EL PASO, Texas -- Two bodies were recovered from separate canals in the city on Wednesday, according to the El Paso Fire Department.
The latest body was noticed in a canal in the 4600 block of Edna in south central El Paso, less than a mile away from the Mexican border, around 6 p.m.
The man's was eventually pulled out of the water right near the border by the fire department's water rescue team.
Based on the condition of the body, U.S. Border Patrol agents think he may have been in the canal for a couple of days before being discovered.
Earlier in the day, another body was recovered from a canal along E. Paisano Drive and Val Verde Street in central El Paso.
That body was found around 7:30 a.m. and the location was just a few blocks from where the later body discovery would occur.
El Paso police and the Border Patrol were investigating the deaths.
