Horizon High School’s Robotic Team competes on world stage

EL PASO, Texas- Out of over 900 teams in their division, the Horizon High School Robotics team finished in the top 30% at the Vex World Robotics Championship.

The yearly competition brings in around 3,000 teams from over 35 countries across the globe.

This is Horizon High School's third appearence on the world stage.

According to Robotics Teacher Mrs. Galindo, the team did very well this year considering the past couple years were difficult considering the pandemic.

“They didn’t get to actually touch a robot until this year so it was a lot of work.  A lot of practice, practice and more practice,” Galindo shared.

Clint School District Superintendent Juan Martinez believes Horizon High School is the place to be for the STEM field in El Paso.

“This is the place and I want to tell the community we are very proud of our school, very proud of our students and they’ve proven time and time again they can compete against anybody," Martinez told ABC-7.
