Texas mom creates special ‘superhero’ robe for children battling cancer or facing medical procedures
EL PASO, Texas - Thousands of children are treated every year for cancer or hospitalized for all kinds of medical procedures. Instead of having to wear a typical hospital gown, children can now wear a unique robe designed to make them look and feel like a superhero.
Created by Brobe International, the Elliott Superhero Robe is designed to make recovery and treatment a little easier and bring a smile to children's faces. The creator of the robe is Allison Schickel, a Texas mother who originally created the robe for breast cancer patients.
The Elliot Superhero Robe is a constructed from extremely soft, anti-microbial fabric so kids will feel comforted and cuddled by it at home, at doctor's offices or at the hospital while helping to protect them from any unnecessary germs. Inside each robe are four pockets that can hold medical equipment like monitors, cords, or post-surgical drains. The pockets can be moved to different positions inside the robe as needed.
The sleeves of the Elliot Superhero Robe have snaps from the wrist to the collar bone so nurses and doctors can access ports or IVs and conduct exams with ease. And, it contains no metal so it can be worn during procedures like an MRI without kids having to go through the extra stress of changing clothes.
Each robe also comes with two superhero capes - one in star fabric and one in superpower word fabric, two matching doctor's hats and two blue superhero eye masks constructed from the same fabric as the robe.
Brobe International is partnering with children's hospitals across the country to provide robes for children receiving treatment. Donations can be made in any amount and each month, will be used to send robes to hospitals. You can make a donation by going to the company's website, brobekids.com.
