LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- According to records from the Dona Ana County Detention Center, Las Cruces Police arrested 38-year-old Rogelio Perez Montoya Tuesday. They picked Montoya up at a home on the 1900 block of Connie Lou Drive, just two blocks from Loma Heights Elementary School.
Officials say that officers charged Montoya with 56 counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration, four counts of Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor (Unclothed), and one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Court records state all of these crimes were committed against a child under the age of 13.
According to court records newly obtained by ABC-7, Montoya assaulted a girl starting when she was 8 years old. Court records state the girl went to a child advocacy center and opened up to adults there. She told investigators that Montoya sexually assaulted her in various ways.
Investigators say the girl provided them with images showing the assault, saved in a file on her phone title "proof." They say she also provided them with extremely detailed descriptions of the assaults.
