Liz Truss is officially the new British Prime Minister
Liz Truss officially became the U.K.'s new prime minister today after meeting Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
The new Prime Minister will inherit several national crises including the economic fallouts from Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Truss will also inherit an energy 'catastrophe' as average U.K. household energy bills increase by 80%, and major environmental challenges due to the impacts of climate change.
Boris Johnson, who quit in July after a series of scandals, formally resigned his post to the Queen today.
Official confirmation has come through from Buckingham Palace that the Queen has accepted Johnson's resignation.
Truss will become the 15th British leader during the monarch's 70-year reign.
