3rd bus of migrants arrive in Chicago from Texas border

CHICAGO — For the third time in the past week, a group of migrants from Texas has arrived in Chicago.

This comes as Texas Governor Greg Abbott also sent bus loads of migrants to both New York City and Washington D.C. as he continues his protest of federal immigration policies.

So far, each city has received approximately 8,000 people.

Chicago Mayor's office confirmed the latest bus to arrive carried 103 migrants. That brings the total number of migrants brought to Chicago from Texas since last Wednesday to 228.

Abbott said he's sending the migrants to alleviate the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Under current U.S. policy, those seeking asylum are allowed to remain in the country until their legal cases are decided. That’s a process that could take several years.
