Perches Funeral Home to cover expenses for teen killed in fiery crash
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Perches Funeral Home will be covering funeral costs for the family of 17-year-old Saul Castro, killed in a fiery crash Saturday night.
Saul's mother Catalina Castro said they were relying on the donations gathered on GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses and are grateful to Perches for help in their son's funeral arrangements.
“The help from Perches means a lot to me during these tough times, one is never prepared for this,” said Castro.
On Saturday night, police officials responded to a rollover crash near 11700 Pebble Hills in east El Paso.
Police officials confirmed a 17-year-old man was found dead inside a vehicle on fire.
Officials said the 14-year-old male driver and a 13-year-old female passenger fled the scene.
Officials said they were picked up by someone else.
Perches General Manager, Jorge Ortiz, said the funeral home chose to get involved after the owner, Salvador Perches, heard about the tragedy on the news and saw the family was in need of assistance.
“As a society, we need to come together in times of need. Especially in the funeral home industry, it’s not only a business for us, we’re here for the community and to provide that support for each other,” said Ortiz.
The Castro family invites the public to a balloon release ceremony Friday at Franklin Park in northeast El Paso beginning at 5 p.m.
