UPDATE (6:15 P.M.): ABC News reported that President Donald Trump fired Gen. Charles Q. Brown as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Friday night and plans to replace him with Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan "Razin" Caine.

"I want to thank General Charles "CQ" Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff," Trump announced on his Truth Social account. "He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish a great future for him and his family," President Trump added.

Former Chairman Brown visited the borderland today checking on active service members and to have an update on the current mission to secure the southern border.

"I thought it was important for me to come out, and, particularly with the focus over the course of the past month with the executive orders coming up from the administration and our focus on the southwest border," Gen. Brown said during his visit in Santa Teresa. "Realizing this is of an admission that the Department of Defense is supporting the Department of Homeland Security for a number of years, but much greater focus over the course of the past month," Gen. Brown added.
