Chapin High School head football coach Rene Hernandez stepping down
EL Paso, Texas -- Chapin High School is now in search of a new head varsity football coach.
Sources confirm to ABC-7 that football coach Rene Hernandez is leaving the program.
Hernandez was the head coach for the Huskies for the last 13 seasons, but he's been with the program for 20 years.
Hernandez had an overall record of 99 wins and 51 losses as head coach, and he made the playoffs every year during that time.
This past season the Huskies finished with an overall record of 2-9, but still managed to make the playoffs as the 4th seed in district 1-5A division 1.
The Huskies were eliminated in the bi-district round of the playoffs to Amarillo High School.
