El Pasoan Will Licon fails to qualify for Olympics in 100m breaststroke
OMAHA, Nebraska - El Pasoan Will Licon is hoping to keep his Olympic dreams alive, but that took a hit Monday night in Nebraska.
Despite qualifying for the final race in the 100 meter breaststroke, Licon finished in 6th place with a time of 1:00.39.
Only the swimmers who finish in first and second place punch their ticket to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Swimmer Michael Andrew came in first place in the 100 meter breaststroke followed by Andrew Wilson in second.
Licon still has two other events in which he'll try to qualify for at the Olympic trials.
Licon will compete in the 200 meter breaststroke, and the 200 meter individual medley.
The 200 meter breaststroke is Licon's best event.
Five years ago he barely missed out on qualifying for Olympic games in the 200 meter breaststroke.
The semi-final races for the 200 meter breaststroke begin Wednesday, and the 200 meter individual medley semi-finals begin Thursday.
