Glory Road: 20 years later

EL PASO, Texas - On Wednesday, UTEP will host a special screening of the film 'Glory Road.'

The film tells the story of the 1966 Texas Western (now UTEP) basketball team that broke barriers by winning a national championship.

Texas Western head coach Don Haskins started five black player in the title game which was a first in NCAA history.

The film's screening is a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Texas Western winning the NCAA national championship in Division 1 men's basketball.

It's also recognizing the 20th anniversary of the film's release.

'Glory Road' was released by Disney in January of 2006.

The screening will be held at UTEP's Memorial Gym, the very gymnasium that the Miners practiced and played their home games back in 1966.
