UTEP football inks 13 on signing day ‘23
EL PASO, Texas - UTEP Head Coach Dana Dimel announced 13 student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday and will don the Orange and Blue of the Miners.
Coming to the 915 and joining the early signees (Dec. 21) are nine freshmen, two junior college transfers, and a pair of transfer portal players.
The newest Miners are WR Da’Shawn Adams (Royal HS), WR Jalile Bost (Pebble Hills HS), RB Joshua Dye (Williams Field HS), DB Josiah Dye (Williams Field HS), RB Qu’Ran Gossett (Bishop Diego HS), RB Ezell Jolly (Ridge Point HS), DL Joey Lightfoot (A&M Consolidated), CB AJ Odums (New Mexico), DB Lantz Russell (Mt. SAC), WR Dre Spriggs (UTSA), DL RaQuan Thompson (Blinn Junior College), OL Jake Utley (College Station HS), and WR Jackson Weng (Orange Lutheran HS).
Also being announced are nine other signees who joined the program in between signing day and signing day two.
Those players are OL AJ Barton (Lakeview Centennial HS), DL Chase Bibler (Fresno City College), WR Javoni Gardere (Diablo Valley College), LB Jake Hall (Orange Coast College), DB Jayce Hunter (Saddleback College), OL Nick Scalise (Sierra College), RB Daryon Triche (Sam Houston), DE Kanious Vaughn (Saddleback College), and DB Jaleal Williams-Evans (City College of San Francisco).
Overall, Dimel and his staff inked a total of 39 student-athletes between the two signing periods. The breakdown includes 19 defensive players (8 DL, 4 LB, 7 DB), and 20 offensive players (6 OL, 3 TE, QB, 5 RB, 5 WR).
