Police say man crossing Border Highway died after being struck by 2 cars
UPDATE, Feb. 26: El Paso police said Friday that a man struck along the Border Highway a day prior was actually hit by two cars and had died from his injuries.
The man's identity was not released as police said they were still in the process of notifying his family.
A police incident report released Friday said the man ran across Loop 375 East near Midway and that an oncoming car was unable to avoid hitting him. Then, the report says a second car also struck the man.
Thursday's pedestrian death was the 9th traffic fatality of the year in El Paso, according to police data. There were 16 traffic deaths at this time a year ago.
ORIGINAL REPORT, Feb. 25: EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso police said a pedestrian was seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning along the eastbound lanes of the Border Highway.
It happened around 6:30 a.m. on the Border Highway near Fonseca.
The crash created a major backup for drivers heading eastbound. Traffic was being forced to exit at Delta.
