Police try to identify pedestrian hit, killed on E. Paisano over weekend
UPDATE, May 17: El Paso police on Monday said they had yet to identify a 25 to 30-year-old man who was among two pedestrians struck and killed by vehicles in separate weekend incidents.
The unidentified man died after being hit by a pickup truck Saturday about 5:40 a.m. in the 1500 block of E. Paisano.
"A Dodge Dakota traveling west in the merging left lane from the Loop 375 exit ramp hit the pedestrian who was crossing at an un-designated point," police wrote in an incident report released Monday.
The man killed was the 24th traffic fatality so far this year in El Paso, police said.

ORIGINAL REPORT, May 15: EL PASO, Texas -- Two pedestrians were struck by vehicles in separate incidents early Saturday in which at least one was deadly, according to authorities.
The first incident involved a hit and run around 2:45 a.m., according to police, which happened at 3400 Gateway East and Luna Street in south-central El Paso; the victim suffered serious injuries and later died at University Medical Center.
Police said the man's death was being investigated by detectives as a homicide.
Later in the morning, police summoned traffic investigators about 6:20 a.m. to another call involving a pedestrian struck, which occurred at Paisano and Nino Aguilera.
No further details were provided on the second situation.
