Man killed in northeast El Paso crash after pickup pulls out in front of motorcycle
UPDATE, Nov. 10: Police on Wednesday identified an east El Paso man as the victim of Tuesday's deadly motorcycle crash in the northeast.
Investigators said Joan Sebastian Ortega, 28, was killed when a pickup truck turned in front of his motorcycle and he clipped it - losing control and striking a tree.
Police indicated that the pickup truck driver, who wasn't hurt, failed to yield the right of way. However, authorities didn't indicate whether he would face any charges stemming from the fatal collision.
Ortega was El Paso's 59th traffic death of the year, according to police data, compared with 63 at this point last year.
UPDATE, Nov. 9: A motorcyclist died in Tuesday morning's crash at a northeast El Paso intersection.
An ABC-7 photographer observed the victim's covered body lying at the crash scene at Dyer Street and Annette Drive.
Investigators have not yet indicated what led up to that crash or provided any further details.
ORIGINAL REPORT, Nov. 9: EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Police Department responded to a serious motorcycle crash in the northeast early Tuesday morning.
It happened just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Dyer Street and Annette Drive.
Emergency crews were on scene and was unclear how many people may have been hurt. A spokesperson for the police department only said that "serious injuries" were reported.
Special Traffic Investigators were called out and motorists can expect the intersection to be closed off for hours.
