Man sentenced to 17 years on child pornography charge
Update (August 14, 2024): The court sentenced Gallardo to 20 years in prison.
"Upon his release from prison, Gallardo will be subject to 25 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender," court officials explained.
Update (July 12, 2024): Pillado will spend the next 17 years in prison, without the possibility of parole.
Court documents state that between April 28, 2022 and April 24, 2023, Pillado and his cousin Ryan Gallardo conspired to send and receive images and videos depicting child sexual abuse.
"Pillado and Gallardo used WhatsApp and the MEGA file hosting service to exchange these illegal materials across state lines, with Pillado located in Texas and Gallardo in New Mexico," federal prosecutors explained.
Investigators say they also uncovered evidence of Pillado and Gallardo discussing their sexual interest in minors.
"Upon his release from prison, Pillado will be subject to 20 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender," prosecutors stated.
Gallardo has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced July 17, 2024.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The cousin of a man accused of sending child pornography is also facing charges. El Paso Police charged Yamil Pillado with five counts of Possession of Child Pornography April 26.
A judge granted him a personal recognizance bond of $75,000, according to El Paso jail officials. He was released May 5.
