El Paso athlete makes name for herself with Nike & Dean’s list
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- She's an athlete, a scholar, and now a force to be reckoned with in the modeling world. Kameron Johnson, of El Paso, is featured prominently in the latest Nike tennis web campaign. It's an opportunity that came knocking, and Johnson, who doesn't have an agent, says she took her friend's advice, and went for it! She sent in an application and some photos, and got a call from the company the day before the shoot.
Johnson was right at home on the tennis court. She was on the varsity tennis team at Coronado High School, where she also ran track. These days, she plays tennis for a club team at Baylor University, where she is entering her final semester. She says she loves tennis because it's an individual sport, and the workout it gives her, but she also admits she loves the outfits! Being part of this Nike photo experience was a dream come true.
"There was like, um. four models including me so I thought they might have used someone who was modeling for longer, had more experience, so the fact that they kind of built it around me and had me in the main spot was like really cool," Johnson says.
Proud mom Tiffani says Kameron has always been a go-getter, in the classroom, and in sports. As Kameron talks about graduating from Baylor, and pursuing her dreams, and maybe taking on more modeling jobs on the side, her mom is only concerned about one thing:
"I just want her to be true to herself, and follow her passion, and wherever that takes her. I'm a proud mom, cheering her on, always," Tiffani Johnson says.
This girl is going places!
