GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Republicans awarded all 39 of the state’s remaining presidential delegates to Donald Trump during a convention Saturday. The overwhelming support for Trump was a sign of the firm grasp he continues to hold on the swing state’s base ahead of November. Donald Trump won Michigan’s Feb. 27 primary with 68% of the vote. Saturday’s convention comes just days after a Kent County judge affirmed that former Michigan GOP Chair Kristina Karamo was removed properly by party members in January. The decision officially hands the state party over to former Rep. Pete Hoekstra. He called the convention a “launching” for the new party and said the results make clear that Michigan “is Trump country.”
