JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has been declared the winner of the presidential election in the world’s third-largest democracy. The results were confirmed Wednesday by the General Election Commission. Subianto said he will respect those who made different choices in the vote and, “We call on all Indonesian people to look to the future together.” His rivals have refused to concede, and one filed a court challenge early Thursday. They allege irregularities in before, during and after last month’s vote. Subianto was accused of abuses under the Suharto dictatorship and chose the son of the popular outgoing president as his running mate. He won 58.6% of the votes.
