Germany’s COVID timeline: from first case to 100,000 dead

BERLIN (AP) — Germany has become the latest country to record 100,000 deaths from COVID-19. It confirmed its first case on Jan. 27, 2020, rising to 100,000 by early April. After a summer lull, infections surged again last fall, prompting a Christmas lockdown that lasted well into the new year. Germany recorded its 50,000th death from COVID-19 in January of this year.
