Las Cruces hospital encourages residents to take the 28-day Healthy Heart Challenge
LAS CRUCES, NM (KVIA) - MountainView Medical Center wants Las Crucens to sign up for the 28-day Healthy Heart Challenge to improve their heart health.
"The 28-Day Healthy Heart Challenge is a fun, informative way for people to learn about heart health, how to reduce their risks for heart disease and lifestyle changes that can lead to a stronger heart - and maybe, a longer life," explained Dr. Charles Dow, a cardiothoracic surgeon with MountainView Medical Center. Dr. Dow appeared Tuesday on ABC-7 at 4.
"Participants who sign up will receive an email every morning during the month of February with short heart-related articles, quick tips and a daily challenge that promotes a heart-healthy life," Dr. Dow added. "The emails include a daily challenge - so you’ll get 28 ways to improve heart health over the course of the month. Some of the challenges are very easy to do; some are harder, but all of them encourage lifestyle changes that can make your heart healthier and stronger."
Dow said areas of focus include ways to reduce high blood pressure, how to eat healthier, steps to get up from a sedentary lifestyle and how exercise, relieving stress and self-care are proven to improve heart health.
