ABC-7 back on air for all after high wind caused power outage
EL PASO, Texas — Repairs were completed Saturday morning and ABC-7's signal was again available for viewers relying on an over-the-air antennae or satellite from Dish and DirecTV.
Strong winds on Friday evening took out power in some areas and impacted the mountain transmitters used by KVIA and some other local television and radio stations.
As a result, ABC-7 was still available on cable, but others had lost service.
El Paso Electric was able to restore electricity to the transmitter site on Friday night, but a KVIA equipment failure caused a prolonged outage for ABC-7 viewers.
In the event of power outages or other signal loss, all of ABC-7's newscasts can always be watched by livestream here on KVIA.com.
