Community rallies around Organ Mountain High School football player who remains hospitalized

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Local businesses and the other three high schools within Las Cruces Public Schools are rallying around Abe Romero, a linebacker for Organ Mountain High School who was seriously injured during last Friday's game against Deming.

Romero was taken to University Medical Center in El Paso after the game, where he was put into a medically induced coma and is still hospitalized as of Monday.

Sports Accessories, a screen printing shop that makes merchandise for Las Cruces' high schools, made 500 decals for each high school to wear in support of Romero. They're intended to go on the football team's helmets.
