Allen Theatres to bring bowling back to Las Cruces as part of a new family entertainment center
EDITOR'S NOTE: The previous version of this story misspelled 'Allen Theatres' as 'Allen Theaters.' It has since been corrected. Original story is as follows:
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Las Cruces hasn't had bowling in nearly five years, but that's about to change with the opening of a new family entertainment center (FEC).
Allen Theatres confirmed to ABC-7 Tuesday that the new entertainment center will be built onto the existing Telshor 12 movie theater.
In addition to two levels of bowling, with one level to be more adult-oriented, the new FEC will also feature laser tag, arcade games, a roof-top patio, and full food & drink services.
"Allen Theatres has been entertaining Las Cruces for over 40 years," said owner Russel Allen in a statement to ABC-7. "We are excited to expand our entertainment offerings to include bowling, games, Laser Tag, food and beverage and movies all under one roof at the Telshor 12."
Construction of the FEC is slated to be finished by May of 2024.
Allen told ABC-7 that construction was originally supposed to start in May of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic brought those plans to a halt.
Las Cruces' lone bowling alley, 10 Pin Alley, closed permanently in June of 2018.
The property, while under different ownership, was the site of the unsolved 1990 mass shooting that killed 5 people and injured 2 more.
