Concerns over health of migrants waiting in El Paso as city prepares for lifting of Title 42
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 has been out on the streets of Segundo Barrio asking the migrants staying there about the conditions they have been living in. Several migrants told ABC-7 they have concerns.
El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser is preparing for the lifting of Title 42. That is scheduled for May 11. He is keeping the health and safety of migrants in mind.
El Paso's City/County Health Authority Dr. Hector Ocaranza spoke to ABC-7 about the spread of communicable diseases like COVID-19, chicken pox, malaria, and measles Monday. He says that while cases of COVID-19 and chicken pox have been reported within Sacred Heart Church, health care providers have not detected measles.
Sacred Heart Church has sheltered thousands of migrants for months now. It has been called the heart of the migrant surge in the borderland.
