EL PASO, Texas -- In a year with no shortage of unconventional graduation celebrations, 78 young women at Loretto Academy were able to walk a cross a stage.

"We had a very strong sisterhood," explained Karen Trejo, a member of the class of 2020. "I feel we (grew closer) during that quarantine because all of us kept in touch with each other."

However, Sunday's ceremony was likely not the commencement the young grads had pictured. Masks were required for the outdoor ceremony and chairs were spaced at least six feet apart.

However, graduates said they were happy to see their sisters after months of being apart.

"I missed finishing my senior year with my sisters and enjoying those moments before we left," said Kaylyn Rickerson, another grad. "I (also) missed coming to school and being in a normal desk."
