EL PASO, Texas -- A semi-truck broke a utility pole in a west El Paso neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a power outage initially impacting about 800 utility users.

The incident happened around Noon at Cincinnati and Campbell.

Emergency crews indicated a portion of the pole landed on a rooftop, palm trees were damaged and live wires were down.

As a result, they asked people to avoid the area; no injuries were reported.

About an hour after the mishap, an El Paso Electric spokesman said power had been restored to all but 140 customers impacted by the outage.
