UTEP’s Season comes to a close with 30-16 loss at home to Rice
The 2019 season is in the books for the UTEP Miners, and once again it came with yet another loss at home.
The Miners fell to the Rice Owls by a final score of 30-16.
It was UTEP's 11th loss in a row, and the team's overall record for the 2019 season ends at 1-11.
 Twenty-two seniors played their final game for the Miners.
The Miners led 16-14 at the half, but were held scoreless over the final 30 minutes after quarterback Kai Locksley exited the game with an apparent hand injury.
Jovoni Johnson chipped in with 62 yards rushing for Rice and two touchdowns.Â
The Owls finished with 371 total yards, including 256 on the ground.
UTEP's backup quarterback Gavin Hardison entered the game for the injured Locksley.
Hardison was 11-of-24 passing for 113 yards.Â
As a team, the Miners gained 312 yards, including 117 in the second half.
