Eastwood sophomore QB nominated for Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week
EL PASO, Texas -- Success can sometimes come a little early, and that's exactly what happened to Eastwood sophomore quarterback Andrew Martinez.
Martinez has been nominated for Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week, for his performance in week 10 of the high school football season.
Martinez took over at quarterback following an injury to senior starter, Christian Castaneda.
But the stage wasn't too big for Martinez who put up some big numbers in the Troopers' 80-39 victory against rival Bel Air.
Martinez threw for 310 yards, rushed for 187 yards and had 7 total touchdowns, 6 passing, one rushing.
"It feels great, I never thought I would be in this position," Martinez said. "I thought it was going to be in my junior or senior year, but it feels amazing."
The player of the week will be selected by an online vote, so to vote for Martinez, click on this link: https://www.texasfootball.com/
