Both Americas Baseball and Hanks Softball’s run in the playoffs come to an end
MIDLAND, Texas (KVIA) -- Entering the weekend only two El Paso area teams remained alive in the Texas High School Baseball and Softball Playoffs, respectfully - now there are none left.
After losing 2-0 to Byron Nelson on Friday, Americas needed to win game two in order to send it to a third and deciding game. Instead the Trail Blazers were swept by the Bobcats as they fell 6-1.
Americas finish the season with 31 wins to their name, including knocking off the defending champs in Southlake Carrol in order to advance to the Round of 32.
It was the programs second time in the Regional Quarterfinals and they are still yet to advance to the Sweet 16.
Hanks also had to win game two against Colleyville Heritage in order to send the series to a game three, after they lost 4-2 on Friday.
The Knights found themselves down 7-0 after three innings but fought back to make it 7-5. In the end they fell 9-6.
Hanks entered the series dropping just the one game all season and now finish with a 38-3 record. It was the programs second time reaching the Sweet 16 and they were in search of their first Elite 8.
Congratulations to both Hanks and Americas on their historic run in the playoffs, El Paso enjoyed cheering for you!
