TORNILLO, Texas -- Interstate 10 near Tornillo was shut down in both directions by authorities on Thursday morning after two separate incidents involving tractor-trailer rigs.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, one of the incidents involved a truck that caught fire on the highway while the other was collision between two big rigs.

Those incidents happened near mile markers 55 westbound and 61 eastbound.

Authorities indicated only non-life threatening injuries were reported in the two incidents, which left interstate traffic at a standstill for some motorists. Officials estimated it would take into the afternoon hours to clear the scenes and get the highway fully reopened.
