Fires Burning in Ruidoso – winds shift and rain chances go up

The winds will shift to the SE beginning Wednesday changing the direction of the smoke and flames to more of a West/Northwesterly direction. Those SE winds will also bring in some moisture - giving the area about a 50% chance for storms. Early models runs indicate the Ruidoso area could see up to .50" of rainfall later Wednesday through the weekend.

Meantime for the rest of El Paso and Las Cruces, it will continue to be another hot day on Tuesday. Temps will once again soar to the triple digits - anywhere from 100-104 degrees.

A pattern shift arrives Wednesday as easterly winds kick in bringing fuel or moisture to the area for some isolated thunderstorms. This moisture will hang around into next week with daily storm chances. Temps will cool down to the lower 90s for Thursday and Friday.
