The ABC-7 First Alert continues for extreme heat. Daytime highs will approach record territory this afternoon, today the record for El Paso is 105 degrees.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect until 8 PM. It's going to be a scorching day -- and the air quality will be bad for sensitive groups.

A backdoor cold front will cool temperatures down on Thursday with high temperatures running above average. Temperatures quickly rebound on Friday to 104 degrees.

The winds will pick up tonight around Hudspeth and Culberson Counties behind a backdoor cold front. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon, but chances look best around the area mountains.

The hottest days will be Saturday and Sunday when temperatures will approach 105 to 106 degrees.
