Smoke prompts evacuation of Del Valle High School
EL PASO, Texas -- Smoke inside a Lower Valley high school forced the entire building to be evacuated.
Ysleta Independent School District officials confirmed to ABC-7 that the evacuation of Del Valle High School on Tuesday morning was a precaution. Officials could not confirm how many students were in the school at the time, or what caused the smoke.
El Paso Fire Department crews were called to the school to address the issue. The YISD spokesman had initially told ABC-7 there was an electrical fire, but later said he could not confirm that information.
Due to the cold temperatures, YISD transported the students by bus to nearby LeBarron Park Elementary School until the issue was resolved, said Chris Lechuga, a spokesman for the district.
