CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- The death toll from the coronavirus in Juarez grew by one person on Sunday to 113, Chihuahua state health officials said.

The latest victim, according to some reports, was a woman who died in a car while awaiting to be admitted to a Juarez hospital, although the medical director for Mexico's northern region didn't speak to those details when he provided Sunday's virus update.

According to data made available by Chihuahua state officials, the IMSS-35 hospital in Juarez appears to be where the bulk of the virus deaths in that city have occurred. The incident with the woman dying in a car was said to have happened outside IMSS-47.

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases Sunday also rose in Juarez from 474 to 487. Officials urged residents to stay home to reduce the spread of the virus in the city - emphasizing that given the current situation, hospitals could be quickly overloaded if people don't heed the warning.

The death toll throughout all of Chihuahua state was at 143 Sunday, and total cases were 784. While Juarez has accounted for the majority of those to date, officials said deaths and cases in Chihuahua city had trended upward significantly over the past week.

Data provided showed the state capital city had a 77% percent increase in Covid-19 deaths in the past week, going from 13 fatalities to 23 on Sunday. And confirmed cases of the virus in Chihuahua city jumped 65% during the week, going from 149 to 229 as of Sunday.
