MANCHESTER, NH (WMUR) —
A Coos County man accused of driving a plow truck into his ex-wife’s mobile home and two cars is being held without bail.
Prosecutors said George Bell, 71, told police he was drunk on whiskey and moonshine Tuesday night when the incident occurred.
“Ms. Bell then observed the defendant back up in the Ram before driving into her sister’s vehicle, a 2018 Honda CRV,” said Assistant Coos County Attorney Jessica Cain. “Ms. Bell yelled for the defendant to stop, and he backed up again and drove into the front deck of the residence where Ms. Bell was standing.”
The Bells have been divorced for 15 years but were living together, prosecutors said. Investigators said the fight started over yard work and Bell was asked to leave. That’s when he allegedly drove the pickup truck into two cars and the porch.
“Ms. Bell advised that she is still in pain today,” Cain said. “Ms. Bell told police and our office that this incident terrified her and that after she fell, she crawled back under her deck and back into her residence.”
Bell’s public defender said the request for no bail was not supported, citing a slim criminal record, with Bell’s most recent charge 16 years ago. The defense attorney also said a victim being scared was not a valid reason to hold someone.
Bell was ordered held on preventative detention. Bell’s attorney made a request for a new bail hearing.
