High school softball playoffs begin; Hanks wins big over Burges in game one

EL PASO, Texas - The high school softball playoffs are officially underway.

Most teams will begin their playoff runs Thursday, but on Wednesday the only game in El Paso was a 5A bidistrict round matchup between Hanks and Burges.

The two schools will play a best of three series.

Game one took place at Bonham Elementary School with the Hanks Knights putting up 22 runs in the game against the Burges Mustangs.

The final score was 22-1.

Hanks is one of the best teams in the entire state, currently ranked 16th in class 5A.

The Knights need to win just one more game against Burges to be declared bidistrict champions.

Game two is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Hanks High School.

Burges will need to win the game in order to force a game three.
