Large fire burns at Chaparral junk yard just a day after big blaze at mobile home park
CHAPARRAL, New Mexico -- For the second day in a row, a large fire ignited in Chaparral that sent visible plumes of black smoke into the sky.
Doña Ana County Fire Captain Arturo Herrera confirmed to ABC-7 that a two-alarm fire broke out on the Otero County side of Chaparral at a junk yard on Angelina Boulevard Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m.
Both Otero and Doña Ana county fire departments were battling the blaze and El Paso firefighters were also summoned for assistance.
Herrera said that the fire involved a mobile home and an 18-wheeler truck, but there were no immediate reports of any injuries.
On Friday afternoon, a wind-fueled fire destroyed a half-dozen mobile homes in a Chaparral complex, but no people were injured in that fire either.
